Camp Edventure More
Jake Stromberg, Presidio Hill School, 5th Grade
I tried to think of something I didn't like about Camp Edventuremore,
in order to give this story a balanced perspective, but guess what? I
couldn't think of a thing! For anyone who loves day camp,
Edventuremore is your place. There is something for everyone. Art
projects are always interesting and science projects are always fun. One of
my favorite science projects was the Coca-Cola geyser. It sprayed wildly
while everyone oohed and aahed. In making the geyser, we learned that
Mentos, because of their teeny little indents, sink to the bottom of the bottle,
then burst out of the top. Who would have thought it could be possible?
My favorite art project was the castle I made. Using our imaginations,
we dreamed up all kinds of turrets and towers. Really cool.
The art and science projects are great, but animation is the absolute pinnacle!
The way it works is like this: you mold the clay (with wires as the skeleton)
into neat little characters that you use in a what turns out to be a fantastic
animation movie. You mold the clay bit by bit and film it at the same
time. Then you edit your film and add sound. There are a lot of steps, but it
is worth it! You get to keep a cool flash drive holding all the movies made
during your session. Plus you get a neat trophy.
Phys-ed lovers don't walk away! Edventuremore has great phys-ed classes
on a regular basis, but also every Wednesday is WATER DAY and it's a blast!
You wear your swimming suit and get soaked playing games with water.
The staff is the best: during the morning and afternoon gatherings, you sing
songs with them and play amazing games. They are always extremely knowledgeable
in their chosen fields.
If I could suggest just one thing, it would be this: “Bring your own lunch."
