Best Kids Actor
Z1ach Efron in “Hairspray”
Yes, our favorite star Zach is a California boy. He was cast as Link Larkin in Hairspray and performed all of his own vocals in the role. He cut and dyed his hair dark brown and gained about 15 pounds for the role. Look out in the future — Zach says his dream is to someday play an action hero.

Best Kids Actress
Emma Watson in “Harry Potter”
2We all know the studious Emma Watson, a.k.a. Hermione, 18, from the Harry Potter movie series. Did you know she’s a brainiac in real life? At age seven, she had already won an award for reciting poetry, which eventually led to her getting the role of Hermione. Plus, she just signed on for the next two Harry Potter movies and she is going to be attending university at the same time!

Best Kids Movie Soundtrack
“Hairspray”4

With so many superstars in the cast of the musical, Hairspray, it’s no wonder the soundtrack is so amazing. Zac Efron, Queen Latifah, John Travolta, and newcomer Nikki Blonsky, are just a few of the singers on this CD. Even better, the lyrics are songs about self-esteem, pride, and racial differences, and even though the movie is set in the 60’s, we can still be inspired and learn from these songs today.

Best Kids Movie
“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”
3The Harry Potter plots still keep us sitting on the edge of our chairs, holding our breath with excitement. In the most recent installment, Harry finds himself in increasingly perilous situations in this dark and moody film. Once again, it’s Harry and his friend’s job to save the day. Like previous “Potter” installments, the danger is ever present and palpable, but now Harry is in dire need of his friends and it is refreshing (and rewarding) to see a group of our peers rally together against the forces of evil.

Best Animated Movie
“Ratatouille”

I5nspired to become a chef? Ratatouille definitely lived up to the standards of other Pixar classics. The animators moved effortlessly between the human and rat world, making it seem like this unlikely story was actually possible in real life. All of the voices were perfect fits with the animated characters, and the dialogue was great. We can’t wait to see what Pixar has coming up in June with it’s new film Wall●E!
